The “LossyLine” approach to EMI suppression is new and unique. The principle of the “LossyLine” approach is that unwanted RF energy travels through a “Lossy” medium surrounding the conductor, where it is absorbed and dissipated. The lossy medium is flexible with high RF attenuation and low Q. It is ideally suited for application as a microwave low-pass type electro-magnetic interference filter. The usual problems inherent in conventional reactive types of surpression filters, such as mismatch, reflections, grounding, and high VSWR, are eliminated. This approach has proven ideal for the elimination of undesired RF interference in high frequency equipment, such as radar, countermeasures, telecommunications, telemetry, etc.
LSF-7 LossyLine EMI Absorptive Filters The heart of a LossyLine Filter is the dissipative element. This element embodies a high temperature resisting (175˚C) epoxy resin, optimized as a magnetic lossy core, molded around the conductor, and case shielded, Hence, a true magnetic trap that absorbs rather than rejects or reflects unwanted energy. No oil is required to cool since there is a minimum heating effect, Practically no reactive current is present because there is little, if any, shunt capacity. LossyLine attenuates 100dB minimum, or beyond of standard instrumentation, from 100 KHz up to 100 GHz and attenuation does not fall off with current. The level of RF attenuation at full load currents is maintained because of freedom from saturation. The electrical characteristics of LossyLine suppress sine waves per MIL-STD-220A, and cause the collapse of transient spikes of all kinds, particularly those with short rise times.
ST4 LossyLine EMI Suppressant Tubing The new EMI Suppressant Tubing provides a simple, low cost efficient means for suppressing unwanted EMI. This unique product can be slipped over standard wires and cables (insulated or uninsulated) and suppresses both conducted and radiated interference. Completely flexible and lightweight, it can be used in temperature environments from –55˚ to +250˚C without any electrical or mechanical degradation. Suppressant Tubing will provide shielding from low frequency electrostatic interference, magnetic fields and will not cause DC or low frequency AC losses. It is capable of handling RF power exceeding 10 watts CW per inch and is available either shielded or unshielded.
